I believe that real faith thrives when it is freed from social pressure. People nowadays attend their religious rituals because they want to, not because they are expected to. I also believe that we need to be careful of the subtle racism peddled by outlets like the Daily Mail. In my experience people of all faiths celebrate Christmas.I've never he more…

I think its not the school's responsibility, its the parents'.
If the parents are interested in teaching a religion or faith to their child, they can do so.I disagree when you say that christianity is not being taught in British schools,it is being taught.
I dont know where you live, but up here in the North West most schools belong to the more…

A wise comment....
But if parents do not hold any faith...where does it leave the children?
I do not believe in Christenings.....why should children be 'burdened with a parent's belief'
Children should grow and understand and make their own choices.

The answer is to respect every child as an individual, share our knowledge with them and let them decide what they want to believe.

'Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions

And the mind's true liberation'

To be trully honest I only know the song "Age of Aquarius", which I love! :>>
But I know what you mean, I am open minded and people who aren't really get on my nerves.
e.g. My parents in law still talk "escudos" even thought the Euro has been the portuguese currency for about 10 years now!!!

Indeed, but the story goes on that we mucked it up, preferring to think we know better than God, thus spoiling what was always meant to be the closest of relationships. I think the story of the prodigal son is relevant, because it shows God as a loving father always willing to give us everything he has, but we go off, turn our backs on him and dec more…

Yes, safriz,I think you are correct when you say about the destructive elements of envy and the chaos that it can bring.
I like your notion of 'sin' as being 'a concept gone wrong'-because that allows for the fact that no one sets out to screw up,things happen.
Your grandma sounds amazing-and of course, she did a great job more…

First things first, the greatest sin in my opinion from the list is envy.It stops us from trying to improve ourselves and intead diverts our energy into taking others down.
In islam the list is a bit long, but there is hope also.If we promis not to perform the "Listed sins" and have regret then we are guarnteed forgiveness.
